Frequently Asked Questions
1. We are a local chapter of a national organization called Mothers & More, which has chapters all across the United States.
2. We meet all over Silicon Valley. We choose playgroup locations so that each area has some activity nearly every week. For moms-only meetings, we get together at restaurants, activity venues or members' homes.
3. Our members have children of all ages, the youngest being newborn and the oldest being teenagers. No matter the age of your kids, our group meets to support mothers.
4. Our playgroups are open to all ages except for the Lil Ones playgroups, which are for children who are not yet walking and babies under 24 months. Older siblings of Lil' Ones are welcome at the Lil' Ones playgroups. Please note that babies are welcome at any playgroup, but Lil' Ones playgroups are designed just for them.
5. We do not at present have a separate group for single moms. If single moms want activities designed just for them, they are welcome to suggest these activities at our planning meetings.
6. Mothers & More supports the work that mothers do. Therefore, our chapter is open to women only. Dads are welcome to attend Family Day, Couples Night and to accompany Mom and kids to playgroup, but memberships are reserved for mothers.
7. Our members' employment status varies widely. Many of our members are employed in some capacity.
8. Since we are part of a national nonprofit organization, there are costs involved with keeping the organization running. The annual dues are $45 and include use of national Mothers & More resources like the website, email loops, newsletter, and more.
9. You are welcome to attend up to 3 events as a prospective member before deciding whether or not to join our chapter.
10. Nursing infants are welcome to attend all events, including Moms Nights Out, Moms-only Brunches, and planning meetings. We ask that you make other arrangements for your weaned children if you plan to attend moms-only events.
11. Members aren't required to attend all events or even a certain number of events per month or year. Members are also not required to host a playgroup. You are free to use our group as it fits your needs. We have some members who benefit from being a part of the national organization, but don't attend many events on the local level. We also have members who only attend playgroups and can't make it to meetings. And some moms who work outside the home can ONLY attend meetings. We are happy to have you as a member no matter how you choose to participate.
